ADA safety related signage for the visually impaired combines raised letters, braille and the photoluminescent effect. If the viewer can discern light or dark areas, the person can approach the self-illuminating sign and touch or feel the elevated Braille and raised letters message on the glowing background.
How it works:
Permalight photoluminescent products absorb light and their luminance becomes visible when the ambient lighting is less than the luminance that they emit.
Permalight uses patented High Performance Strontium Oxide Aluminate Pigments. The more pigment is incorporated, the more charging power the material has. Cool white light sources, such as fluorescent lighting and sunshine, are excellent activators. Soft warm lighting, such as incandescent light bulbs, is at the lower activation end.
